After Care Instruction
It is now up to you to ensure your brows heal well! The healing process and after care instructions are really important for proper ink retention and best results, so make sure to follow them carefully!
About 30 minutes after your service is completed, wet a Q-tip or clean paper towel with lukewarm sterile (bottled) water and gently pat/wipe across the brows, following the direction of your hair growth, and let air dry or pat with paper towel. Do not use a body towel as it carries bacteria. Avoid scrubbing. Wait an additional 30 minutes and repeat. Repeat again before bed. This is important to ensure minimal scabbing from lymph build up as they are fresh wounds.
Day of the Service
Days 2 - 14
With washed hands, continue to cleanse brows in the same manner twice a day. Apply a thin layer of the ointment provided onto the brows afterwards, using clean fingers or a Q-tip. A small pea sized drop is typically enough for both brows. Don't coat on too much to allow the brows to breathe. Once all peeling is complete around day 14-18, you can stop applying the ointment.
After Care Rules
Until peeling is complete (2 weeks approximately):
Keep brows dry: (no sweat/steam, saunas, facials, massages, swimming, heavy workouts, etc.) Wash eyes and below only, cleanse the forehead area separately. Keep showers short/cool, not long/steamy & use provided face shields in shower (cleanse the forehead area first if you have oily skin to ensure face shields stick).
Avoid exercising for 5 days to prevent swelling/bruising. Less blood flow will allow damaged capillaries to repair quicker.
Do not apply anything else on the brows besides ointment provided as instructed. No makeup too close to brows. No oils on the brows longterm.
Avoid sleeping on your face and change your pillowcase for a clean one. This helps avoid premature flaking (and fading of pigment). Using an airplane pillow or wedge pillow will help to avoid waking up on your side or stomach!
Avoid direct sun exposure (wear a hat) - once fully healed, apply sunscreen on the brows when in the sun to prevent fading.
Do not pick at or peel your brows, can cause fading & scarring. Once peeled, brows will look very faded - this is normal & expected. Color will resurface over next few weeks!
Long Term: avoid applying anti-aging and acne products on the brows; avoid skincare with retinoids, AHA/BHA acids, vitamin C, on brow/forehead area longterm, use below the eyes only.
Once peeling is complete around day 14-18, you can wash the brows, apply make up, sweat, etc., normally. You can also thread/wax brows now.
If you experience any excessive swelling, blistering, or puss, consult a doctor as the area may be infected. If you have any questions or concerns with your healing of the brows, please feel free to contact me to discuss further instructions.
During the healing period, the brows can look quite bold. After the peeling is complete, your new brows may look like they have disappeared. This is normal as well, as the skin is still healing itself and renewing under the scabs. As the skin heals over the next few weeks, the ink will gradually reappear. It can take approximately 40 days for the ink to pick back up. Any areas that have remained faint, any missing patches, etc., will be perfected at the touch-up appointment! Permanent makeup is a multi-step process and will definitely need at least one touch-up (6-12 weeks after initial) to ensure the best results! <3
